<itunes:summary>Odette and I followed Elendain up the rope bridge to a large platform high in the tops of the gigantic evergreen forest. We burst out of the branches into bright morning sunlight that spread as far as we could see. I stopped at the end of the bridge, holding tight to the rough rope. "Is it safe up here? I mean, won't we fall off if the wind starts to blow?" Elendain turned back to me, smiling. "My dear, we have been here since the dawn of time, no one has ever "fallen off". Come, walk with me and I'll show you." She held out her hand to me. "I promise, you won't feel even a whisper of movement."

I took her hand and carefully stepped out onto the large, round platform. Elendain continued. "We live in harmony with nature, we respect Gaia and she respects us, the wind never blows strong in these woods. Walk to the edge and put out your hand." I moved gingerly toward the edge, a tingling sensation of dread crawling up my spine. Stopping about five feet back, I held out my hand toward empty space.

Elendain glided up behind me. "That's right, keep going. Hold your hand out in front of you, yes, that's right." I nervously inched my way closer to the edge of the platform. Two feet to go and my hand hit something. My eyes told me that there was nothing there, but my touch said there was a wall in front of me. With my eyes wide and my mouth hanging open, I took a few more steps closer and put both hands out, palms forward, and mimed my way around the entire platform. "It's an invisible wall!"

Elendain motioned for me to return to her side. "There are charms all through the elvenwood. This great hall is where we hold all of our celebrations and we prefer to be as close as we can to the heavens. That is why we charmed the ceiling and walls to be invisible. Odette was giggling under her breath, with a mischievous look on her face she darted toward the edge. At the last moment, before she could leap out into the blue sky, she turned her body and smashed, shoulder first into the invisible wall.

"Oh, Odette don't...". She rolled on the floor at my feet laughing hysterically. "Ah missus, these inviseeble walls mess with yer brain they do. Lettin ya think yer gona fall." Elendain was laughing too. I turned toward her with a mock look of exasperation. "Don't encourage her." I tried to keep my voice stern but it's hard not to laugh when everybody around you is laughing.

Somewhere below a flute played. Elendain turned toward the east. "Your escort is arriving." In the distance I could see bright flashes of red, orange and yellow all through the dark green of the trees, it looked like tiny fireworks moving toward us.

As we made our way down, dropping once more into the shelter of the evergreen boughs, I had a thought. "Elendain? If there are charms all through these woods, how did a troll find you? When Arial and the emerald guard helped me get home through the woods by the faerie palace, they kept throwing little silver orbs into the bushes at the side of the road. They said that it made the path invisible to the trolls and since they couldn't see the road, they would wander off in another direction."

A shadow of doubt played across Elendain's face. Her eyes darkened the way Lilly's did the day Lucy and I walked down the street in front of the little white house. Elendain's voice pulled me back from my musings. "Yes, that is a good question, and one I will be looking into, but for now..." She stopped at the bottom of the tree and stepped to one side to let me pass in front of her. "Your escort is here."

I looked up, flying toward us through the lingering mist on the forest floor, came hundreds of faeries riding on fireflies.

<itunes:summary>I looked around and saw that we were standing in the grassy meadow that I have come to know so well. Funny how it has started to feel a little like home. I couldn't help thinking, at least my life couldn't be called boring! The Palace rose up in front of us. The last time I saw it, it was sparkling ice blue, all icicles and frost. Now, it was a warm pink. Vines of Wisteria and Honeysuckle wrapped around the columns, ferns were growing wildly everywhere. The crystal doors had be replaced with bamboo reeds that were woven together to look like gigantic butterfly wings.

Wow! The spring faeries certainly decorated different than the frost faeries. Cythia lead the way up the steps. When we reached the top, the butterfly wings parted to reveal a beautiful fairy hovering just inside the arch. Tiny pink and purple flowers were braided into her long blond hair, and her crown consisted of masses of multicolored butterflies. I looked a little closer and saw that the wings of the butterflies were constantly moving.

Before my eyes she transformed into a tall graceful elven like being, her gown was made up of layer upon layer of leaves that had been interwoven with a sheer gossamer fabric, it wasn't a fabric I had ever seen before.

She came forward, took my hands in hers and smiled. Have you ever seen anyone smile with their whole face? It was like that, but more, when she smiled her face actually lit up, it glowed. "Welcome! Please do forgive me my bad manners. I had hoped to greet you much earlier than this, and under more favorable circumstances. Come and sit with me." She turned and held out a hand to Cythia. "Dearest, would you please have some nectar brought for our guest?"

I was at a loss for words, I'm afraid I gave a very rude first impression but I didn't know how to respond. Here was a faerie queen treating me like I was the royalty, and it didn't help that Arial and the guard had retreated politely into the background. "Your Highness..." she held up a hand to stop me. "Please, call me Alina." Okay, if I wasn't already feeling totally undeserving, that did it! I bowed my head, "Alina then, thank you." I continued. "Alina, please forgive me, but I'm afraid that I'm a little confused. Cythia and Arial have been being very, how shall I say it? Mysterious. Something about things that can impact me?"

Alina sat back and sighed heavily. "Yes, that is my fault. I have instructed them both to be wary of divulging too much information. You never know if the walls have ears." I looked around the room quickly. "I thought that saying was just a cliche." The queen laughed suddenly. "Oh, Kind One! You forget where you are! In the Realm, the walls can literally have ears, and I'm not to sure if that truth hasn't spilled over into your world."

Her mood turned suddenly serious. "We have had reports from our allies in the dark woods that there are plans to use you as barter for pardoning the shape shifter, giving her the right to return to our realm. She wants to return and meet again with those who would overthrow the faeries of the four seasons."

"Ages past, there were beings that could change into anything they had touched, these beings came to be known as shape shifters. They believed that because they could change form, they were superior to the four seasons of faeries and should rightfully possess the keys of the crown and rule the realm. The four clans came together and exiled the shape shifters, denying them and their descendants, forever after, access to the realm that they so fervently wanted to control."

"The four seasons of faeries worked together to produce a potion that could change anyone into the thing they touched, leveling the playing field." Alina cupped my face in her hands. "You, Kind One, are the only human to ever experience the effects of the changeling potion, and you did it out of love for the fae. There is no way to ever repay our debt to you, you will be forever changed as a result. We must, no,</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>There's a little white house down the street from us. It sits back off the road a little further than the rest of the houses, nestled among a riot of rose bushes.

The roses bushes around other houses are tidy and ordered, their blooms somehow know the perfect place to position themselves and lend a royal effect to the gardens, but the rose bushes around the little white house are irreverent and wild, the canes arching in unpredictable directions and the blooms defy any order at all.

I walk Lucy down past the little white house all the time. Like Mrs. Shunners house, there are never any signs of life, but, unlike Mrs. Shunners house, it has a welcoming aura about it, even with the masses of thorny rose bushes all around it.

This morning I grabbed the leash and headed out the door with Lucy (she gets so excited). I let Lucy take the lead, she has a predictable path that she likes to take when we go for a walk: past Mrs. Shunners house, down the street past the little white house, around the corner at the gigantic elm tree. We make a large circle, cutting through the block using an ally half way down the street.

I always hesitate at the border between our house and Mrs. Shunners. The emerald guard placed protection charms in the flower bed to keep our property safely hidden from Mrs. Shunners prying eyes and I feel a slight tug when I break the energy field as I cross over the invisible line of safety.

A cold shiver ran down my spine as we passed the little blue house. I know what the inside of that house is like, and every time I pass it, it feels like it is calling to me, trying to pull me back into its evil interior.

My head felt like it was swimming in a gray fog and the sunlight began to fade. "Lucy, wait, I have to sit down for a minute". I started to sit on the front steps of the house to regain my balance but Lucy tugged insistently on her leash, staring at the front windows and growling softly under her breath. Feeling unsteady on my feet, I let her pull me quickly past and continued down the street.

As soon as we got past the far boundary of the house, all the fogginess disappeared. I glanced quickly around at the front door to make sure that no one was following and tried to shake off the gloom that had draped itself over me. When I was satisfied we were beyond Mrs. Shunners reach, I turned my attention back to Lucy and our walk.

I hadn't realized it but we had crossed to the other side of the street and were standing right in front of the little white house with the unkempt roses. A petite woman with bright white hair was standing in the driveway, smiling at me.

She was wearing a straw hat with a large floppy brim that shaded the sun from her eyes, she was holding a silver goblet in both hands. She held one out to me as we got closer. "You look like you could do with a nice cold glass of lemonade." She smiled at me again and gave the cup a shake. "Come dear, it will do you good." She had a familiar aura about her and I somehow knew she was a good person, so I took the cup. "Thank you, I guess I do feel a little lightheaded."

She turned her attention to Mrs. Shunners house up the street and a shadow crossed her face. Her bright green eyes smoldered black , just for a moment, then she smiled at me again. "Come, sit down with me in the shade until you finish your drink."

She lead me to a little table under an Oak tree. Lucy sat at my feet, contentedly watching a robin hopping in the grass as it looked for worms. Sipping at my lemonade, I watched the little woman across from me and wondered again why she felt so familiar. "I don't think I have ever seen you before, have you lived here long?"

Her smile gave her face a timeless quality and it was hard for me to tell exactly how old she was. She looked like she was thoroughly enjoying my company. "Oh yes dear, I have lived here for quite a while. I usually keep to myself, I'm rather a private person you see."

"Oh, I can understand that!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>The Emerald Guard appeared at the ivy hedge as promised to escort us to the Mayday festivities. We could hear the bright music and the high tinkling laughter of the faeries echoing through the forest as soon as we past through the portal into the faerie realm,

The long rays of the sun shinning through the high canopy of branches made the spring leaves glow bright green. Pools of deep green shade made a nice backdrop for the long flower garlands the faeries had draped along the path leading to the meadow where Arial had instructed the maypole be placed.

I glanced around nervously, wondering if trolls were lurking in the underbrush. Almost on que, as if she could read my mind, Arial zipped out of the honeysuckle vines the were growing in a matted tangle at the base of a Hawthorne tree. "Good, good, you have come!" She was carrying a crown of flowers woven together with pastel ribbons. "We have taken a vote and it was unanimous, all the faeries have elected you to be the Queen of the May.

Bill and I exchanged a quizzical glance. "Just what exactly does that mean?" I had to ask, I wasn't sure I wanted any surprises.

Cythia and a few more flower faeries joined us as Arial explained. "For the purpose of the Beltane celebration the Queen of the May acts as the physical form of Mother Earth and leads the parade around the court, accompanied by the green man, who symbolizes the spirit of the plant kingdom and the ever renewing cycle of life. The procession moves forward just as spring moves toward summer."

"If I am the queen, who is the green man?" I looked from one faerie to another, squinting my eyes in a suspicious scowl. All the faeries burst into loud peals of laughter. The sight of these tiny beings rolling around on the ground, so to speak, in mid-air with their multi colored pastel skirts tumbling around their heads and their wings fluttering madly was too funny and I found myself grinning brightly.

"Kind One..." Arial held her side and tried hard to catch her breath. "The green man is the Green Man, he always has been. He lives in the trees and come out once a year signaling the return of the bright cycle of the year."

I couldn't wait to see the walking spirit of the plant kingdom. "Okay, I'll do it. Lead on!" Arial and Cythia flew ahead of us as we walked down the path and out into a meadow. The maypole had been placed in the center and was tied at the top with long pastel streamers that were waving in the light breeze.

The sky above was thick with faeries, singing and playing flutes. I leaned close to Bill, "At least this will be more fun than turning into a cat!" He didn't say anything, but put his arm around my shoulder and hugged me tightly. Cythia motioned for Bill to take a seat on some large purple pillows, after making sure that he had food and drink she helped Arial place the flower wreath on my head and signaled the beginning of the procession.

Out of the forest behind us came a tall stately being, moving in slow, graceful strides. This was the Green Man. He was completely covered in leaves, his hands consisted of fine branches twined together forming fingers and his legs looked like young oak trees. He moved up beside me and stopped. After bowing to Cythia, he turned to face me. Without saying a word, he looked me over from head to foot then extended his arm for me to hold (I was having a very hard time keeping my mouth from hanging open). I took his arm and we began moving around the meadow, gradually moving faster as we approached the center where the maypole stood. The faerie crowd was cheering and whistling. More than once I saw Arial at the edge of the group with a proud smile on her face.

As we reached the maypole, several faeries, the green man and I took a streamer and began dancing in and out, weaving around the pole as lively music played. When the streamers had been woven tightly around the maypole and we were all out of breath from laughing and dancing,</itunes:summary>

		<itunes:summary>"Spring Procession" by David Delamare

The flower faeries of spring have been busy all week coxing the flower buds to appear in preparation of the May celebration of Beltane. The gathering of the faeries in May is second only to the raucous gala of Midsummer.

Cythia has persuaded Arial to help her and the other flower faeries with all the arrangements for the festival tonight. All must be made ready for the arrival of Alina, queen of the flower faeries.

Arial and I were in the kitchen when Cythia suddenly popped in. "There you are Arial! Would you mind showing that group of faeries over there the best place for the Maypole?" She spun around and pointed to a group of five or six faeries who were hovering in the sunshine, their wings shining. They were giggling and whispering to each other. Obviously not focused on the task at hand.

"Not at all. Did you bring the potion for the Kind One?" Cythia's attention was distracted by the laughing chatter of the faeries. She tapped lightly on the window pane with her wand, "Ladies! Ladies please! Oh, I am having such a hard time with them, all they want to do is play. Ladies!" Arial floated up behind her and tweaked her wing. "Cythia, would you please pay attention."

"So sorry, what were you saying?" One of the faeries laughed and Cythia spun around, pointed her wand at the faerie, and a flash of light shot out of the tip and found its mark on the back of her head. There was a multitude of high piercing squeals and the group winked out.

"My apologies Kind One." Cythia took a spot on my left shoulder. "Arial tells me that you are having trouble remaining intact." She giggled. "Sometimes these thing things happen, but I have a potion for you that should knock those nasty cat molecules out of you for good." She looked closely at my eyes, first one, then the other, pulling them open by my eyelashes.

"Hum, it is strange though, usually my potions don't have this kind of effect on humans." Cythia drifted around to the side of my head and tweaked the top of my ear, then grabbed a fistful of my hair and ran her fingers through it. "Your hair is finer than a normal humans hair, and the red highlights are deeper. She came around to face me again, "Are you part elf?"

"What? I don't think so, but I'm Irish on my mothers side of the family. Hey, how many times have you given potions to humans?"

Arial scooted up beside Cythia with a look of excitement on her face . "Queen Orlaith gave her a blessing and bestowed on her a sacred crystal from her crown! I have never heard of her doing that with a human before." The two faeries exchanged knowing looks.

"I think you're getting distracted again. Can I please just have the potion?" I pointed out the window. "I would love to have my voice back, and I think your girls need some supervision." We all watched as the pastel faeries of spring darted in and out of the ivy hedge playing tug-o-war with the flower garlands.

"Hold out your hand." Cythia waved her wand and a small vial filled with cloudy blue liquid appeared in my upturned palm. "Drink this and you will be right as Gaia's rain in no time!" As soon as the little glass bottle had settled in my hand, Cythia grabbed Arial's and the two faeries rocketed for the door. "Come, sister Arial, we have so much to do before tonight!"

Before they rounded the corner, Arial shouted, "you will come tonight, the Green Man will be there. We will be singing and dancing around the Maypole and jumping the fires of renewal, please come! I will send the emerald guard for you!" They were out the door and streaking for the ivy hedge before I could get a squeaky whisper of acceptance out.

I turned my attention back to the small bottle. Uncorking it, I carefully sniffed the contents. It smelled like grape jelly. I held it back and looked closely at it to see if there was anything unnatural floating in it. I wasn't eager to drink anything a faerie gave me after that last little incident, still,</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Cythia pointed her wand at the little bottle. It floated up into the air, hung there for a moment, then slowly made its way toward me. I held out my hand to receive the green liquid filled glass. The vial settled in my hand and began to vibrate.

I wasn't expecting the bottle to move, it startled me, and I jerked my hand nearly dropping it. Before I knew what was happening, two faeries swooped in from either side and caught it before it could tip and spill its precious contents. "This potion takes weeks to brew, we do not have the time to start all over again." Frowning at me, Cythia held onto the top of the bottle with one hand and shook her finger at me with the other. Arial clapped her hand over her mouth to stifle a giggle, her eyes wide with surprise at Cythia's impertinence.

I was a little surprised at the Cythia's pluck as well. "I'm so sorry, it's just that I didn't expect the bottle to move on its own!" I wrapped my fingers around the container and Cythia moved back, obviously annoyed at my clumsiness. Arial continued to giggle softly.

Turning my attention to the liquid in the bottle, I noticed that it was slowly swirling and twisting in on itself. The viscus solution was shot through with veins of black and silver. It might have been my over active imagination but I thought that it looked like it was listening to us, the way that it would start to twirl faster when I spoke (I have way to many "Harry Potter" moments lately).

"Okay, what is this stuff anyway?" I held the bottle close to my mouth when I said "stuff" and watched the green goo twitch excitedly. "It doesn't look to appetizing." The two faeries exchanged a nervous glance. "What?" It slowly dawned on me what I was supposed to do with it. "You don't want me to drink this icky stuff do you!?"

The two faeries chimed in together, "It's the only way!" I carefully placed the container on the counter and rubbed my face. I knew I wasn't going to like what I was about to hear. "You might as well tell me what you want me to do. Come on, get it over with." I pulled out a stool and sat down. I thought that it would be better if I were in a sitting position to hear the plan.

Arial spoke first. "Every faerie has their own energy signature, rather like your finger prints. We have been able to pinpoint exactly where Krystal is being held and our initial suspicions were correct, she is being held in your neighbors dwelling. Her energy is growing weaker so we have very little time to waste." I was right, sitting down was better than standing up.

Cythia continued. "Since the shape shifter is magical by nature, we can not enter her sphere of influence, she would know immediately. You, on the other hand could walk in right under her nose and go undetected."

I jumped up, almost tipping the stool I was sitting on over backward. "Hello! Big person here!" To make the point, I turned around, sweeping my hands from the top of my head down to my toes, then back again. I struck a, what do you think about that? pose with my hands resting firmly on my hips. "How am I supposed to walk in over there?" Just the thought of entering that persons (or what ever she is) house made me want to hurl.

"That is where the potion comes in. It is a shape shifting potion that will allow you to take the form of the first thing that you touch immediately after drinking it." I pictured the funny scene of Bill walking in and finding me looking like a potted mum. I would shake my petals at him and ask, "what would you like for dinner tonight hon?" He'd probably faint on the spot.

"I don't think Bill is going to like this plan, besides, what am I going to touch that will get me in there unnoticed? I can't go as a plant." The potted mum image sprung to mind.

Cythia had a smug look of satisfaction on her face. "We have a better idea, look out your window." I leaned over the sink and looked out. Down on the patio, I saw fourteen faeries, the emerald guard and two flower faeries,</itunes:summary>
