<itunes:subtitle>We stood facing each other: a five foot, six inch tall human with long auburn hair and moss green eyes, holding out her hand, and a two inch faerie with auburn hair hanging to her knees and bright crystal blue eyes, standing on the proffered hand. </itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>We stood facing each other: a five foot, six inch tall human with long auburn hair and moss green eyes, holding out her hand, and a two inch faerie with auburn hair hanging to her knees and bright crystal blue eyes, standing on the proffered hand.

The bright smile on Arial's face quickly dissolved into a look of serious contemplation. With hands on hips, she paced back and forth from finger tips to wrist and back again, her wings casting a multicolored array of sparkles in the morning sun. "Bill only sees faeries because he is so near to you. We block his memory later, this is how we protect our involvement with humankind."

She motioned for me to sit down and continued. "Queen Orlaith knew that this day would come, that you would eventually start asking questions, and she has left the decision to me as to when you should be enlightened." She cocked her head to one side as she looked at me closely, trying to decide if I could comprehend what she was about to tell me.

"Faerie vision runs in the bloodlines, it is past down from one generation to the next. Only those with faerie blood in their veins have the ability to develop the talent. Human men and women have faerie vision only because it has been past down to them through their family. We have noticed that the males don't actually see faeries as much as they sense them or hear them. It is the females that can interact with faeries by seeing them in their physical form. Still, we have been surprised by the occasional male that can see us."

By this time I was completely confused. Bloodlines? Inherited? I couldn't decide if I was being dense, or if , on some level, I didn't want to hear what Arial was telling me. I chose to just sit there with my mouth shut and listen.

Arial drifted over to my shoulder where she could braid my hair while she continued. " In the beginning of our history,The Tuatha De Danann settled in the northern most mountains of Ireland. They were a tall and graceful race of people who had magical abilities. The Formorians, who had settled the same area, were jealous of these newcomers and wished to posses their magic so they set out to conquer and enslave the Tuatha De Danann."

"It wasn't until after several conflicts that the two races decided to join together as families, thus preserving peace in the land. Bres, a Formorian King and Brighid, a fair daughter of the Tuatha De Danann, were wed. This was how humans with faerie blood began."

"There was peaceful coexistence until the Milesians challenged the Tuatha De Danann and won. At that point, the Tuatha De Danann retreated underground into a parallel realm." Arial stood and shook her wings out, flipped them once and hovered in the air, gently swinging back and forth.

I jumped at the chance to ask the question. "Are you telling me that I have faerie blood in me?" Arial beamed, delighted that I had caught the jest of her story and proceeded to perform intricate spirals in the air. "But what does that have to do with Bill not being able to remember seeing faeries?"

Arial landed back on my shoulder and continued. "Our leaders were worried about the safety of those humans with faerie blood. If the Milesians ever found out, they would make sure that they ceased to exist. A group of faeries were charged with watching over and protecting these chosen ones, preparing for the time when they would help with the Tuatha De Danann's return."

"At first, there were enough faeries to carry out the task, but as the generations unfolded, we needed help. We relied on humans who didn't have faerie vision, but who were blessed with exceptional intuition and sensitivity to watch over the chosen ones, we only stepped in as needed... Bill is your intuitive other half."

My mind was reeling, could this be true? I had been so enthralled with Arial's story that I hadn't noticed the other faeries gathering in the branches above us. There were hundreds of them, sitting quietly among the soft green leaves,</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>The Emerald Guard appeared at the ivy hedge as promised to escort us to the Mayday festivities. We could hear the bright music and the high tinkling laughter of the faeries echoing through the forest as soon as we past through the portal into the faerie realm,

The long rays of the sun shinning through the high canopy of branches made the spring leaves glow bright green. Pools of deep green shade made a nice backdrop for the long flower garlands the faeries had draped along the path leading to the meadow where Arial had instructed the maypole be placed.

I glanced around nervously, wondering if trolls were lurking in the underbrush. Almost on que, as if she could read my mind, Arial zipped out of the honeysuckle vines the were growing in a matted tangle at the base of a Hawthorne tree. "Good, good, you have come!" She was carrying a crown of flowers woven together with pastel ribbons. "We have taken a vote and it was unanimous, all the faeries have elected you to be the Queen of the May.

Bill and I exchanged a quizzical glance. "Just what exactly does that mean?" I had to ask, I wasn't sure I wanted any surprises.

Cythia and a few more flower faeries joined us as Arial explained. "For the purpose of the Beltane celebration the Queen of the May acts as the physical form of Mother Earth and leads the parade around the court, accompanied by the green man, who symbolizes the spirit of the plant kingdom and the ever renewing cycle of life. The procession moves forward just as spring moves toward summer."

"If I am the queen, who is the green man?" I looked from one faerie to another, squinting my eyes in a suspicious scowl. All the faeries burst into loud peals of laughter. The sight of these tiny beings rolling around on the ground, so to speak, in mid-air with their multi colored pastel skirts tumbling around their heads and their wings fluttering madly was too funny and I found myself grinning brightly.

"Kind One..." Arial held her side and tried hard to catch her breath. "The green man is the Green Man, he always has been. He lives in the trees and come out once a year signaling the return of the bright cycle of the year."

I couldn't wait to see the walking spirit of the plant kingdom. "Okay, I'll do it. Lead on!" Arial and Cythia flew ahead of us as we walked down the path and out into a meadow. The maypole had been placed in the center and was tied at the top with long pastel streamers that were waving in the light breeze.

The sky above was thick with faeries, singing and playing flutes. I leaned close to Bill, "At least this will be more fun than turning into a cat!" He didn't say anything, but put his arm around my shoulder and hugged me tightly. Cythia motioned for Bill to take a seat on some large purple pillows, after making sure that he had food and drink she helped Arial place the flower wreath on my head and signaled the beginning of the procession.

Out of the forest behind us came a tall stately being, moving in slow, graceful strides. This was the Green Man. He was completely covered in leaves, his hands consisted of fine branches twined together forming fingers and his legs looked like young oak trees. He moved up beside me and stopped. After bowing to Cythia, he turned to face me. Without saying a word, he looked me over from head to foot then extended his arm for me to hold (I was having a very hard time keeping my mouth from hanging open). I took his arm and we began moving around the meadow, gradually moving faster as we approached the center where the maypole stood. The faerie crowd was cheering and whistling. More than once I saw Arial at the edge of the group with a proud smile on her face.

As we reached the maypole, several faeries, the green man and I took a streamer and began dancing in and out, weaving around the pole as lively music played. When the streamers had been woven tightly around the maypole and we were all out of breath from laughing and dancing,</itunes:summary>

 <itunes:summary>"Spring Procession" by David Delamare

The flower faeries of spring have been busy all week coxing the flower buds to appear in preparation of the May celebration of Beltane. The gathering of the faeries in May is second only to the raucous gala of Midsummer.

Cythia has persuaded Arial to help her and the other flower faeries with all the arrangements for the festival tonight. All must be made ready for the arrival of Alina, queen of the flower faeries.

Arial and I were in the kitchen when Cythia suddenly popped in. "There you are Arial! Would you mind showing that group of faeries over there the best place for the Maypole?" She spun around and pointed to a group of five or six faeries who were hovering in the sunshine, their wings shining. They were giggling and whispering to each other. Obviously not focused on the task at hand.

"Not at all. Did you bring the potion for the Kind One?" Cythia's attention was distracted by the laughing chatter of the faeries. She tapped lightly on the window pane with her wand, "Ladies! Ladies please! Oh, I am having such a hard time with them, all they want to do is play. Ladies!" Arial floated up behind her and tweaked her wing. "Cythia, would you please pay attention."

"So sorry, what were you saying?" One of the faeries laughed and Cythia spun around, pointed her wand at the faerie, and a flash of light shot out of the tip and found its mark on the back of her head. There was a multitude of high piercing squeals and the group winked out.

"My apologies Kind One." Cythia took a spot on my left shoulder. "Arial tells me that you are having trouble remaining intact." She giggled. "Sometimes these thing things happen, but I have a potion for you that should knock those nasty cat molecules out of you for good." She looked closely at my eyes, first one, then the other, pulling them open by my eyelashes.

"Hum, it is strange though, usually my potions don't have this kind of effect on humans." Cythia drifted around to the side of my head and tweaked the top of my ear, then grabbed a fistful of my hair and ran her fingers through it. "Your hair is finer than a normal humans hair, and the red highlights are deeper. She came around to face me again, "Are you part elf?"

"What? I don't think so, but I'm Irish on my mothers side of the family. Hey, how many times have you given potions to humans?"

Arial scooted up beside Cythia with a look of excitement on her face . "Queen Orlaith gave her a blessing and bestowed on her a sacred crystal from her crown! I have never heard of her doing that with a human before." The two faeries exchanged knowing looks.

"I think you're getting distracted again. Can I please just have the potion?" I pointed out the window. "I would love to have my voice back, and I think your girls need some supervision." We all watched as the pastel faeries of spring darted in and out of the ivy hedge playing tug-o-war with the flower garlands.

"Hold out your hand." Cythia waved her wand and a small vial filled with cloudy blue liquid appeared in my upturned palm. "Drink this and you will be right as Gaia's rain in no time!" As soon as the little glass bottle had settled in my hand, Cythia grabbed Arial's and the two faeries rocketed for the door. "Come, sister Arial, we have so much to do before tonight!"

Before they rounded the corner, Arial shouted, "you will come tonight, the Green Man will be there. We will be singing and dancing around the Maypole and jumping the fires of renewal, please come! I will send the emerald guard for you!" They were out the door and streaking for the ivy hedge before I could get a squeaky whisper of acceptance out.

I turned my attention back to the small bottle. Uncorking it, I carefully sniffed the contents. It smelled like grape jelly. I held it back and looked closely at it to see if there was anything unnatural floating in it. I wasn't eager to drink anything a faerie gave me after that last little incident, still,</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>When I woke up this morning the sky was a clear blue. The birds were chirping in the trees and the breeze carried the scent of spring through the open window. The first thing I did when I opened my eyes was check my arms and legs for black fur. I jumped up and slipped into my robe. Ah! how nice it was to be walking downstairs on just two legs.

I walked into the kitchen to find Bill pouring himself cup of coffee. When I opened my mouth to say good morning the only thing that came out was a squeak. I couldn't talk! Well, I could talk but all the words came out in a scratchy whisper. I grabbed my throat, "I can't talk! I don't know what's wrong, my throat feels all clogged." Just speaking those few words sent me into fits of coughing.

Bill slapped me on the back like he was trying to dislodge something from my throat. "Maybe it's allergies" I straightened up and tried to catch my breath. Now, not only was my voice gone, my throat was raw from all that coughing.

"I don't think so, it wasn't like this yesterday, I was fine." Just then Arial spiraled down the stairs and darted into the kitchen. We watched as she did her best Tinkerbell imitation around the kitchen, darting here and there, all bright and bubbly. "Airal?" I squeaked out the word. Arial froze mid flit and quickly turned to look at me. To say that she had a look of concern on her face would be putting it mildly.

With a quick flip of her wings she was at my nose, pulling on my upper lip to get me to open my mouth. "Arial, stop! What are you doing?" If it wasn't hard enough to speak before, now I had to try to get my words out in a raspy whisper with a faerie pulling on my mouth.

" Be quiet, open your mouth and let me see inside." My, she can be bossy at times. I stopped trying to push her away and said "aaaahhh....". Without warning she crawled in my mouth, half way to my tonsils. Being blessed with an over active gag reflex I almost hurled. She was tickling the back of my tongue.

Trying not to bite down I croaked, "Ahweal, ge ouw!" When she didn't budge I grabbed her by her skirts and pulled. I held her dangling a few inches from my face. "What were you looking for?" The words came out a little to strong and it sent me into another coughing fit.

She took the opportunity to break free of my fingers and flipped saliva from the tips of her wings. I gained control of the coughing. "Sorry about that, but you were the one who chose to crawl in my mouth." Arial just smiled at me, "Not a problem. I know what's taking your voice away. It looks like your voice box wants to revert back to cat form."

"It what!" Bill and I shot each other alarmed looks. "Not to worry." Arial was calmly weaving back and forth with a bright smile on her face. "I'll just have Cythia brew up a potion and you'll be good as new."

"Yes, but how long will it take? There's a lot of stuff I have to do that requires a voice, like recording." Arial whizzed around my head a couple of times then stopped and gave me a light kiss on the cheek. "Not to worry!" She waved goodbye and dissolved in green sparkles.

<itunes:summary>I didn't know if Bill wanted to laugh or cry. One thing was perfectly clear, he wasn't at all happy about having his wife turned into a cat. He sat down on the porch step and stared at me. Arial and Cythia had each taken a protective position, hovering a few inches off the ground on either side of me.

I have noticed that when situations get tense, the faeries will hum softly. It has a calming effect, like the time my little Chihuahua, Edie, got plopped on the head with cold wet snow. She will always let us know when she is not happy, and by the sounds of her wild screaming that day, she wasn't happy! The faeries paralleled her every move, humming a gentle lullaby, until she stopped. Then of course she looked at us like nothing out of the ordinary had just happened.

Arial and Cythia were humming like that now, but this time it was for Bill. When the shock began to wear off, and the two faeries were satisfied that he was calmer, they left my side. Arial went to perch on Bill's shoulder and Cythia proceeded to braid the strands of hair that she had pulled out of my head prior to my feline transformation.

Arial repositioned herself on Bill's shoulder, leaning forward to observe Cythia's work. She scratched her head, "Potions are tricky things." Since Bill hadn't been home to witness my metamorphosis, Arial had to do a little explaining. "Unless you know the exact magical strength of the creature you are going to change into, it is hard to gauge the length of time before the potion wears off. Obviously Mrs. Shunners cat wasn't just a cat, or, the shape shifter had placed charms on it."

"She won't stay like that will she? We have dogs, and gnomes!" Bill edged a little closer and held out his hand to me. "Please forgive me sweetheart, I had no idea you were a, he gulped, cat." I knew that I would have to make him dinner tonight, but right now I decided to play the cat role to the hilt. I turned my back and proceeded to lick my paws, glancing around to give him a detached look of disdain. "Tonight, you get tuna!" Meooow.

Cythia finished the braid and wove it into the fur on the top of my head. She moved back waving her wand over me and chanted. Pink sparkles fell from the tip and disappeared into the thick black fur. "That should do it! Her natural DNA will recognize the strands of hair and the transition back to her former human self will begin."

We waited. When nothing happened, I started to get nervous and began pacing around in circles. "I can't stay this way, I can't stay this way!" Meeeeoow, meeeeoow! Bill stifled a shudder and gently rubbed my fur. "Ah honey! Thanks for that show of support, I forgive you, you don't have to eat tuna tonight!" Meow, Meoow.

All of a sudden I felt a tingling, it started at the tip of my tail and worked it's way up my spine and out the tips of my ears. My eyes opened wide and I stood very still, waiting. Everyone else must have known that something was about to happen because they all took several steps away from me. For a split second, I felt as if the whole world was collapsing in on me. Everything compressed, then in a sudden explosion of sparkling pink light I materialized, and from the relieved smiles on their faces, looking quite myself.

At first no one spoke, then, everyone was speaking at the same time. "Well done!" "Welcome back." "I thought you would stay that way forever!" "What did it feel like?" "What's for dinner?" (that's my hubby, it's all about the food!).

Faeries were buzzing around my head, Bill was hugging me. I think Warren and Odette even got in on the welcoming committee, of course, the dogs were barking madly. I let their relief wash over me, happy to be myself again, aside from a slight buzz in my head, I felt rather good.

When the celebration had subsided, and Bill couldn't hug me any tighter, I extricated myself from his arms and stood back to look him in the eyes. With hands on hips, and with a mock tone of indignation in my voice,</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>There was no time to waste, Arial flipped her wings once and rocketed into the air carrying Krystal in her arms, accompanied by four of the emerald guard. The remaining faeries stayed behind to make sure the invisibility and protection charms around the perimeter of the yard remained impenetrable.

I looked around the yard, it was empty, not a single faerie was in sight. "Hey, guys? I haven't changed back, hello?" In my head I was making perfect sense, but what I heard coming out of my furry little mouth was...meeeooooww! Meow, meow, meeeeeooow! I started pacing nervously back and forth in front of the door.

Of course this had to happen, I had envisioned the morphing thing a little differently, something like: I drink the goo, I change into a kitty cat, I grab the faerie, I change back to myself in a beautiful shower of sparkles. Wrong! Didn't Cythia say something about "just in case of an emergency?" Now that I think about it, I never did get a clear explanation of "emergency".

It seemed like I had been pacing in front of the door forever when I heard someone coming in from the garage. Head held high, ears pivoted forward, I padded down the walk toward the gate. Bill and I met at the corner of the house. He had stopped at the store to pick up a few groceries and both of his arms were loaded with bags so I thought it would be best not to try to get him to pick me up and carry me into the house.

I wanted him to know that it was me under all this fur. "Hi honey! you will never believe how my day went!" Meeoow, meow, meow, meow. Well, that didn't go over so good, darn my kitty mouth anyway. I knew how Bill felt about cats, but I had to take a chance, I started rubbing up against his leg in an attempt to gain his favor, maybe he would sense that it was me.

I purred so sweetly, walking around his legs like I had seen my evil twin do with Mrs. Shunner not all that long ago. "Pick me up please!" Meow, meeooow!! If cats could laugh, I'd be splitting my sides right now, Bill looked like he had just been dive bombed by a seagull with intestinal distress, and it was running down his forehead by the looks of it.

Bill walked to the patio table with me happily padding along behind. He put the bags down and turn around, "Oh good! He's going to pick me up" Meeoooow (shoot! I can't wait until I can communicate on a human level again). I was preparing to purr contentedly and do another pass around his legs when I saw him pick up the broom I keep by the back door.

We stood there looking a each other for a moment, then with one quick sweep, he waved the broom at me. "Shoo! Pisst! Shoo cat! Shoo! I jumped quickly to one side. "Hey! Stop that, don't you recognise me? I swear, if you don't stop that you won't get any dinner tonight! Meeeeoooow! Meeooow, meow!

He kept swishing the broom at me in an attempt to drive me out of the yard. Didn't he wonder why I was not going? I was about to take refuge in the Hawthorne tree when Cythia and Arial came to my aid (wow, it would be easier to climb this tree as a cat, unlike the time I saved Pip from the Blue jay). They flew wildly around and around Bill's head twittering and scolding and tweaking his ears.

"Stop it! You're trying to harm the Kind One!" Arial perched on his nose and with her hands on her hips, gave him a stern scowl. "That", and she turned around pointing and smiling at me, "is the Kind One." Bill's mouth hung open and the broom dropped from his hands.

<itunes:summary>Cythia and Arial were pushing me toward the back door, you can't tell by looking at them, but for only being three inches tall, they are strong for their size. " Hey, guy's, don't you think we should wait for Bill to get home? I mean, maybe he should be here to help. There's not going to be side effects or anything is there? You didn't tell me how long the potion will work or what to expect...guy's, wait!"

They pushed and I protested right up until we reached the door. What are they going to do now, they can't push me and open the door at the same time. My frenzied train of thought evaporated when Cythia waved her wand at the door causing it to swing open, allowing us to walk through without any hesitation.

When the black cat saw us it ceased its useless struggle. Hanging suspended in mid air by the energy field that surrounded it, the creature stared at us with wild, flashing green eyes. As we got closer, it pinned its ears back and produced a low throaty growl. Its razor sharp claws pulsed in and out, it was just waiting for a chance to strike.

Arial landed on my shoulder, her usual perch and whispered in my ear. "Do not worry, Kind One, you will have plenty of time to complete your mission. Go to the rear, there is a door through which you can pass. Krystal's energy is emanating from somewhere in the back of the house. Do you understand?"

Keeping a wary eye on Mrs. Shunners cat, I nodded. "I still don't like this." Cythia darted over and flew circles around my head, "You'll be just fine." She pulled three strands of my hair out. "This is just in case of an emergency." My mouth dropped open, "Emergency? What emergency!?"Arial snapped her fingers and the green goo appeared. She handed me the bottle and indicated that I should drink up.

I sniffed it. It smelled like green jello with a hint of licorice, and something else that I couldn't identify but was slightly acrid. Arial helped tip the bottle to my mouth. She winked at me, "I think you will find this surprisingly different!" I pinched my nose shut and I swallowed the brew.

At first, nothing happened, then everything went blurry. The yard started rocking back and forth. I sat down to steady myself. This ethereal feeling left me slightly light-headed. From somewhere far away I heard Cythia telling the other faeries to float the cat closer. A beautiful rainbow of light shot out of her wand and the cat went limp. I was suddenly overcome with the urge to pet the thick, glossy black fur.

The world dimmed out. When the fog lifted, I was aware that my hearing and eyesight had sharpened, I felt extremely agile and felt a driving need to hunt sweep over me. With my human awareness remaining intact, I had taken on a feline form. I no longer walked, I sauntered.

I felt Cythia and Arial coming up behind me, in one fluid movement I reacted, jumping and turning at the same time coming down on all four paws, back arched and ears pinned, ready to strike at the eminent threat. When I saw that it was just my faerie friends, I tried to apologize, but all that came out was a mewling moan so I just flicked my tail upward and began swishing it quietly back and forth.

Arial grabbed me by the whiskers to focus my attention. I tried to shake her off, but she held fast. "Remember, you are Mrs. Shunners Cat, act like you belong there. Go to the back of the dwelling and find the entrance, your new vision will help you in the dim interior. Be quick."

I rubbed my chin up against Arial to show that I understood, then padded softly down the sidewalk and turned the corner, heading for the Shunners property, trying hard not to get distracted by the bird jumping from branch to branch in the big bush at the corner of the yard.

When I got to the garden wall, I sprung effortlessly up and proceeded to follow it to the fence that divided the front of their yard from the back. It was no effort at all for me to balance myself as I edged along the top with my new found feline grace.
